ARMOR SHIELD® desiccants are excellent for moisture/humidity management in closed containers and they are ideal for use in long-term storage and export applications. Desiccants are drying agents used to reduce the humidity/moisture inside an enclosed space. With proper use, ARMOR desiccants will both lower and maintain the reduced humidity level within packaging or a container, thereby preventing corrosion and the costs associated with it.
Desiccants operate differently than VCI, they work through adsorption—the desiccant removes moisture and then holds on to it (it does not re-release it). For a quick, one-minute explanation on the differences in how both corrosion management products work, take a look at the ARMOR video below.
ARMOR offers a variety of desiccants ranging from .5 grams to 2,500 grams in both clay and silica gel as well as calcium chloride to assist in any size project ranging from small packages to large ocean containers. They are easy to apply (insert or hang), non-toxic, and even at full capacity, desiccants do not change size, shape or texture.
To visually demonstrate ARMOR SHIELD desiccants, their use and benefit for large containers, review our desiccant packaging specification illustration. If you need additional information, ARMOR staff are technically-trained and can advise and provide support on which desiccant is best for your specific application.
