YOU ASK AND WE ANSWER—THIS COLUMN IS DEVOTED TO ANSWERING OUR CUSTOMERS’ MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are zinc and zinc oxides the same?
Zinc is a solid material while Zinc oxide is a coating. ARMOR products are designed for the rust removal and rust protection of metals. As a coating, Zinc oxide is applied to the surface of a metal and can inhibit the effectiveness of ARMOR products. ARMOR has conducted compatibility testing for various metals (such as Zinc) in an effort to determine the best match of ARMOR product(s) to meet the individualized needs of their customers. (See chart below.)
Because of the wide range of Zinc oxide coatings and processes used to apply Zinc oxide coatings, it is recommended that you first conduct individual testing of a small area of the metal to determine if the coating will interfere with the protection provided by ARMOR products.
