TAKE IT TO THE BANK! ARMOR HELPS A MAJOR OEM BANK MORE THAN 30,000 ENGINES FOR UP TO 3 YEARS

Problem:
A major automotive OEM was in need of storing approximately 30,000 engines for up to three years in a warehouse in the southern USA. These engines needed to remain rust-free, but needed to be packed dry and free of additional oils (outside of any residual oil from any testing of the engines) during the duration of the storage. The manufacturer wanted to be able to see the engines through any film or packaging that might be used. Additionally, cost and timing were critical as the program was scheduled to begin within weeks.

ARMOR Solution:
The automotive manufacturer called in ARMOR to assist them in this difficult project. ARMOR personnel met with the lead engineer and quality managers at the OEM to discuss the project. Within four days of being notified of the project and after understanding the scope and requirements, ARMOR recommended a clear Defender™ VCI bag, an ARMOR WRAP® MPI paper sheet, and a 4 oz. clay Tyvek™ desiccant pack from the ARMOR SHIELD® line and brought samples of clear and blue ARMOR film for trials. Packing of the 30,000 engines began within a month of that initial meeting.

Results/Savings:
Approximately one year later, ARMOR President Robin McConnell, visited the warehouse where the thousands of engines were stored. Together with the OEM engineering team, a random sampling of 25 engines were pulled and unpacked to check for corrosion. No corrosion was found on any of the engines and since this program was launched (nearly five years ago) all engines have remained rust-free.
