CLASS IS IN SESSION -- WHAT IS VCI?

In this September's issue of the ARMOR SENTINEL we take you back to the basics. Just like a science class at your old alma mater, this issue's video offers a quick look at "What is VCI?”

VCI is an acronym for Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors or some may know it to stand for Vapor-Phase Corrosion Inhibitors. With either acronym, VCI is a class of chemical compounds that emit rust inhibiting vapors into an enclosed air space to prevent corrosion on a metal surface. Once released, VCI molecules circulate in the enclosed area and attach themselves to the surface of metal to form a thin, invisible film to prevent the formation of corrosion. But, not all VCIs are the same!

All Armor Protective Packaging® products utilize ARMOR proprietary VCI nanotechnology. This nanotechnology is unique in that it uses mixed inhibitor technology and provides a range of vapor pressures to form a stable nanocoating on the metal only a few molecules thick. ARMOR’s VCI Nanotechnology responds and adjusts to temperature and humidity fluctuations that occur in the packaging environment, increasing and decreasing as needed. Metals are protected over an extended period while remaining clean and dry and ready for immediate use upon removal from the packaging.
