NEW NAME, NEW TECHNOLOGY AND DISTRIBUTION IN NEW COUNTRIES

The wheels of progress and expansion for the company continued to turn during the early 2000s. Fall of 2004 marked a major change for Armor Protective Packaging® -- a change to the company name and the establishment of a new logo displaying a knight in a suit of armor. Up until 2004 ARMOR held the name of SKS Industries, but as the company continued to grow the need for a name and logo that would have recognition internationally became clear. That need became clearer and clearer as the global reach of ARMOR moved into Europe and Asia with international partners and distributors.

Around this same time, ARMOR President Robin McConnell put his chemistry expertise to good use and ARMOR began to develop some of the top performing VCI films in the world. ARMOR launched its revolutionary films Defender™ and Crusader™ (the first co-extruded VCI films on the market) and it patented its Bright Idea Technology™, which offers a quality control check to verify the VCI content of products through the use of a black light.

With the company’s success came the confidence and freedom for company owner John Holden to step back from his role and rely on the expertise and abilities of McConnell and Vice President David Yancho whose work in the different disciplines needed to run a successful business were the perfect marriage. Holden began a succession plan that included selling a portion of the company to McConnell and Yancho.

And so the story continues as ARMOR marks this year in celebration of its 35th anniversary. It has taken a “village” of ARMOR leadership and employees and many years of hard work to position ARMOR as the provider of quality products and exceptional customer service. We have prepared a short video to catalog these years and to further highlight the company’s path.
