Metal Rescue

How does Metal Rescue™ differ from a rust converter?

In simplest terms, rust converters chemically treat rust, leaving rust to remain on the metal surface in its converted form -- an inert compound. Conversely, Metal Rescue™ Rust Remover Bath – a water-based rust remover that is non-toxic and non-acidic, physically removes rust from the metal’s surface, thereby producing a clean metal surface. For ease of comparison, see the summaries of each process below.

Metal Rescue™ Rust Remover Bath:

  • Removes rust from metal surface.
  • Uses chelation technology to lift iron oxide (rust) from metal surface – no chemicals or acids.
  • Safe on everything except rust.
  • Once rust is removed leaves a clean, metal surface.
  • Does not remove properties of the metal, leaving metal surface intact and less susceptible to return/flash rusting.
  • Works on all levels of rust – light to heavy.

Rust Converter:

  • Does not remove rust – encases it. Rust remains on the metal surface and is converted into an inert compound meaning you cannot revert back to bare or original metal.
  • If used in excess, an acid surface will remain and metal will be more susceptible to return flash rusting.
  • If an insufficient amount is used, not all rust will be converted leaving residual rust that will form the starting point for new corrosion processes.
  • After use, metal surfaces are irregular (not smooth) because rust is not removed but instead remains on the metal surface but in a different form.
  • Works on the outer layers of metal – effectiveness is limited to light cases of surface rust. Unable to penetrate and convert deeper deposits of rust, does not offer an option for advanced cases of rust.
