ARMOR worked with one of the largest metal coil and blank processors in North America to eliminate a rust problem that was costing them nearly $120,000 each year.
The manufacturer was shipping large metal parts from Michigan to Texas and discovered that many of the parts were rusting during transport. ARMOR proposed a two-phase solution to address the corrosion issue. First, ARMOR SMARTY PAKs™ were incorporated into the shipping process to both reduce moisture and provide Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) protection for the metal parts during transportation. Second, INVISIBLE ARMOR™ Data Trackers were added to the shipment to collect data on the effectiveness of the SMARTY PAKs in reducing humidity, as well as other key environmental conditions affecting the metal parts, such as temperature, light exposure, and impact.
The results were impressive, with annual savings of nearly $120,000. The manufacturer eliminated the time and resource losses caused by rust, as the data collected by INVISIBLE ARMOR provided irrefutable proof of the SMARTY PAKs’ effectiveness in reducing moisture and humidity. ARMOR’s recommendation effectively managed moisture while adding VCI protection to the packaging, ensuring the metal parts remained rust-free during transport.
