An update from ARMOR President, Dave Yancho:
The spirit of Christmas is in the air and I say, let the merriment commence! The team at ARMOR got a jump-start on this 2022 holiday season in mid-November when we received a “gift” from the Michigan Manufacturers Association (MMA). ARMOR received the Michigan Manufacturer of the Year Award-Small Tier Award (200 employees or less) and the news of it had us feeling the gratitude of Thanksgiving; the joy of Christmas and the festiveness of New Year’s Eve all rolled into one!
According to the MMA, the John G. Thodis Michigan Manufacturer of the Year Award is given in recognition of the important, positive and tangible contributions that individual manufacturers make to their workforce, their customers, their communities and to the manufacturing industry. My colleague and co-owner of the company Robin McConnell and I formally accepted the award on behalf of the entire ARMOR team at the 2022 MFG Excellence Awards banquet. In addition, the MMA produced a special video – or what could be called an ARMOR “highlights reel” – that was shown as part of the awards presentation to underscore why ARMOR was chosen as the 2022 winner.
I think Robin said it best in a recent interview when he explained “Forty years ago, when ARMOR’s founder John Holden started the company, he set a tone of cooperation, teamwork, and family. Dave and I made a decision early on that we wanted to support those same values in our leadership of the company as well.”
While it is always nice to be recognized, awards and accolades play second fiddle to what I feel is the “real” prize – the confirmation that the ARMOR team ‘walks-the-walk and talks-the-talk’ of our company core values. We truly believe that people and relationships come first and profits will follow and that is reflected in our day-to-day interactions with each other and with our customers.
I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy, blessed and rust-free new year!
